Lakeridge Health, one of the largest community hospitals in Ontario, primarily serves the more than 600,000 residents of the Durham Region. On any given day, approximately 1,600 patients walk through the doors of a Lakeridge Health site. Lakeridge Health is part of the Central East Local Health Integration Network . ==History== After a recommendation from the Health Services Restructuring Commission in 1998, the Ontario government amalgamated four Durham area hospitals: Memorial Hospital Bowmanville, North Durham Health Services (consisting of Community Memorial Hospital Port Perry and Uxbridge Cottage Hospital), Oshawa General Hospital and Whitby General Hospital – to create what is now known as Lakeridge Health.
